Adrian Picot attacks Brother Pat Lynch's views on cannabis legislation
http://www.theschooldaily.com/articleView.asp?articlePK=2867

Adrian Picot
School_name: NORML NZ Inc.
Email: norml@apc.org.nz
Article_name: NZ CATHOLIC EDUCATION OFFICE OPPOSES CANNABIS LEGALISATION
Article_date: 23-May-2000
Comments: Brother Pat Lynch misses the point. Reforming our cannabis laws
could hardly make cannabis more available - its availability and use is
ubiquitous in NZ society. It is easier to get than pizza and probably has
a greater clientele than most takeaway foods. Non-sensational aspects of
all of Mr Lynch's nightmare scenarios exist right now, here in NZ...

Clarke, Craw & Partners offer advice to BoTs (#i) on property plans, and
donations
http://www.theschooldaily.com/articleView.asp?articlePK=2799

PROPERTY PLANS
There is a new focus on Asset and Property Management within schools. A
new trial is underway to decide how schools will be funded for Property
Maintenance in the future. From feedback we have had, there seems to be
some criticism of the current funding formulas proposed. They range from
a number of student base, to the number of classrooms being used, to decile
ranking. It appears none of the proposed bases are working.
We will have to wait and see what the final outcome is and see whether it
goes the same way as bulk funding. In essence the new property system is
going to do the same thing...

Clarke Craw & Partners offer advice to BoTs (#ii) computer leasing, ICT
grant
http://www.theschooldaily.com/articleView.asp?articlePK=2835

COMPUTERS TO LEASE OR OWN
We have noticed a new trend developing in recent months regarding the
ownership of computers. Some schools are opting to lease rather than buy
their computers. They believe that this option has a number of
advantages over ownership, not least of which is the replacement due to the
rapid technology changes occurring in this field...

Children of the Internet Dream #5- concluding Professor Edna Aphek's
Internet experiment
http://www.theschooldaily.com/articleView.asp?articlePK=2738

#5. The last session
In the last session, the "young teachers" spontaneously, came up with the
idea of taking a computer apart and showing its components to their
students, who have never seen the inside of a computer before.
This on the spot decision and the way it was carried out turned out to be
one of the highlights of the course. At the end of the last meeting the
older learners summarized their impressions of the course and tipped us
as to what future courses should look like:
