Wow! I didn't think my last newsletter would spark
such response from so many people! hehe... A few
responses I received included:

"How could you forget http://www.google.com/
It's the real winner!"- Denise

I didn't forget Google. Remember last week when
I mentioned that many search sites actually use
another site's list of links? That is
what Google does. Visit a site I suggested
last week called the Open Directory Project at
http://dmoz.org and then visit Google. Notice anything?

Another note said

"While it is good to alert surfers to search engines
that they might not be aware of, it unfortunately
perpetuates the myth that 'finding the right search engine'
is the key to success.

Rather, 'developing an appropriate search strategy'
is the real key to success. This applies to both
adults and kids. "- Michael

Michael makes an excellent point which I may touch
on in a later issue. Thanks to all of you who wrote!

And now to our links...

YAHOOLIGANS!

The funniest name of any site on the web.

Yahoo's little brother with fewer links but all
high quality. This site also contains links
to download games and music so you will have to
watch for this in a school setting.

Ask Jeeves for Kids!

A nice site where you type what you are looking
for in a sentence and submit it to your "Butler"
who will then find sites that will help you.

Good selection of sites and the sentence format
for searching gets good results.

CYBERSLUETH-KIDS/

A nice "Yahoo-like" site with a good selection of links.

I liked this site because they have a link where you
can "chat" with a person form their staff and he/she
will help you find what you are looking for.

Kids' Click !

Advertised as a "Web search for kids by librarians." This
is an excellent site and will be added to my bookmarks. Tons
of links with EXCELLENT deescriptions of each. A must visit!

Caution: This site contains a large section of links called
Weird & Mysterious. It includes links to sites with information
about ghosts, ESP, witchcraft, etc.. that some may find offensive.

While all the other sites above also have links to such sites,
it's not given such attention on their main page as it is
with Kids' Click. Just FYI...
