Project Summary:
To extend pen pals by both using Email and poetry as a focus for
communicating ideas. Students will write poems to their pals, edit their
pals' poems with comments and suggestions, experiment with different poetry
forms and share their progress with the class. Reflection is a key
component.

Full Project Description:
Pen pals who use snail mail can explore a quicker way to effectively
communicate ideas with their pals by using e-mail. As a teacher, you have
an opportunity to explore a poetry unit with your students as well as
collaborate with another teacher while continuing the pen pal relationship.
With teacher assistance, students will use the internet to exchange poems
with their pals.
Objectives:
Students will extend their Media Communication skills by identifying the
Internet as a form of technology that can assist them to communicate ideas
as well as express clear responses to written messages. Students will
revise and edit their work as well as the poems by their pals. It is hoped
that the students will appreciate language by exploring different poetry
forms.
