Project Summary:
Hurricanes... tornadoes... winter storms... El Niño and La Niña... no matter
where you live weather and climate impact your daily existence. LIVE FROM
THE STORM relates weather and climate to key scientific principles and helps
teachers meet national, state and district standards and benchmarks.
Students will meet the enthusiastic men and women who work for America’s
leading weather and climate research agencies, NOAA and NASA.

Full Project Description:
This project combines broadcasts, hands-on activities and online
interactions to take students and teachers inside a hurricane, to the
National Severe Storms laboratory to learn about the latest research on
tornadoes, to IPEX, Intermountain Precipitation Experiment, to learn about
snowstorms and winter thunderstorms and more.
The broadcasts are carried on PBS stations and NASA-TV, the complete
Teacher's Guide will be placed online in pdf format the middle of February,
and the continuing construction site is online and free to everyone.
Objectives:
PASSPORT TO KNOWLEDGE's Mission:
~to enliven the curriculum by connecting real world research to essential
science concepts
~to facilitate interaction between leading scientists and K-12 students and
teachers
The objectives of this project are:
To show students the science behind weather and climate.
To connect them to weather experts working in the field.
To show them the latest research about weather and climate-even that which
is not currently in textbooks.
To connect national and state standards to the real world.
