Full Project Description:
First grade classrooms will read the book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do
You See?, written by Bill Martin, Jr., and illustrated by Eric Carle.
Each student will complete the verse "First grade, first grade, what do you
see? I see _______________ looking at me." Students will fill-in
the blank with a person, place, or thing that is representative of their
geographic region. An example for the midwest region of the United
States would be "I see a tractor looking at me." Each student will then
create an illustration (no larger than 8 1/2 x 11") of their verse.
The class will choose ONE favorite student page to send via Email or regular
mail to post as a page of the online book "First Grade, First Grade,
What Do You See?", which will be located on our school website.
We also welcome any additional information that you can provide about your
geographic region, as well as any websites that students may visit to learn
more about your region. We will provide that information in a list of
project participants on our website.
Objectives:
This project will allow first grade students to interact with a predictable
story in both verbal
and written form. Students will also read and discuss responses from first
grade students from various
regions, environments, and cultures.
This project will result in an online book adaptation created by first grade
classrooms from various regions and cultures.

3. First Grade teacher's name and Email address
4. Any other information about your class, school or region - you can also
provide
your school URL or other websites about your region.
If you are sending the verse and illustration via regular mail and you would
like this returned,
please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
