Today, NARAL launches its new Web site designed to educate Americans on
issues of reproductive freedom and choice and to highlight what's at stake
in the 2000 elections. It provides quick, easy access to a wide range of
information and makes it simple for visitors to turn that information into
action by becoming "Ten Minute Activists." The site features immediate
steps that activists can take online to advocate for choice, to share their
voices and stories, and to learn more about reproductive rights issues.
It's located at: http://www.naral.org/index.html?an
"We at NARAL understand that busy family and work schedules make it
difficult for pro-choice Americans to get involved and do something about
the threat to reproductive freedom. That's why we've created the "Ten
Minute Activist" site," said NARAL President Kate Michelman. "The Ten
Minute Activist" enables visitors to make their voices heard and take action
on the choice issue.
The site's many options allow visitors to check the voting records of their
members of Congress, contact their representatives on key legislative
issues; sign up for Internet newsletters and alerts; access information
about their state laws and pending legislation; learn about ways to get
involved locally; and join NARAL and support NARAL's programs.
The NARAL site also provides information on key aspects of the battle for
reproductive freedom and choice, including RU 486, clinic violence, sex
education, and contraception. It highlights the NARAL Foundation's Choice
for America campaign, which combines paid advertising with a grassroots
organizing effort to reconnect Americans with the values underlying the
pro-choice position.
Visitors have fast and easy access to "Who Decides?," NARAL's comprehensive
guide to state laws on reproductive health and rights, and journalists can
access an entire section containing all of NARAL's fact sheets, recent
statements, and press releases.
"The goal of NARAL's new site is to provide a one-stop resource for anyone
concerned about the future of women's reproductive rights. NARAL's site is
the place to go for comprehensive and timely information on this most
important of issues," Michelman said.
