[SPT/CWIS] pdf indexing

Hi SPT list!

I wonder - has anyone got anywhere towards generic full-text indexing 
with SPT? Would you recommend it? What other packages should be used if not?

At the moment I am building a library whose records sometimes link to 
PDFs, but they are stored on a separate area, and are not a part of SPT.

But if each record were to link to a PDF, it would be good to be able to 
search within them - i.e be able to add an index of pdf contents to 
SPT's search internals. Has anyone ever done this, or can you recommend 
  if it's worth integrating this with Ht://dig or some commercial pdf 
indexer?
