yes, you will need
1. an email server set up on your system, or somewhere
on your network, or any email server at all.
2. In your php.ini file, you will have to set the
sendmail_path parameter to the address of this server.
I use Windows, and am not familar with Linux, but I
think the sendmail function is built into Redhat? But
just ensure that the php.ini file is updated (the file
has an example of how to set the parameter).
