[SPTUsers] Problem uploading images using SPT 1.1.2 on Solaris 8

We're experiencing a problem uploading images when adding a resource record
using SPT 1.1.2 on Solaris 8.  Our PHP version is 4.2.3.  When we try to
upload an image, we get the following error message ...

*Fatal error*: Call to undefined function: imagetypes() in
*/var/apache/htdocs/cit/ITResources/Axis--Image.php* on line *429*

Has anyone else experienced this?  I reported it to SPT Support but they're
not sure why we're having this problem.  They thought at first it might be
due to us using an older (pre-4.02) PHP version (before the imagetypes()
function was defined) but we're using PHP 4.2.3.  I'm guessing we have
something set up not quite right or maybe it is a Solaris-specific problem?
