[SPTUsers] programs?

Hello everybody,

I am a librarian that is quite confortable entering in information and 
creating my database, but I know absolutely nothing about how to change the 
SPT. I have seen some of the other uses that have been created using the SPT 
and I would like to begin learning what I need to know to do it. I have 
learned HTML and know I am capable of learning scripts. What do I need to 
learn in order to successfully change my SPT? Or do I need to begin with 
computer science 101 and enroll in a computer science program? Thanks,
