[SPTUsers] CWIS vs. Scout Portal Toolkit

Hello,

What's the difference between the Scout Portal Toolkit and CWIS? Are
the database structures the same? I understand CWIS is geared towards
NSDL, but does one have to use the prepackaged taxonomies?

Also, if I wanted to utilize the data import and export features to
build a harvester that essentially takes information from several
different instantiations of Scout or CWIS, what issues do I need to be
aware of?
