Niels Bohr Library & Archives

Library and Archives cube

The Library and Archives "cube" is the signature architectural feature of AIP's headquarters.

The Niels Bohr Library & Archives is a repository and clearinghouse for information in the history of physics, astronomy, geophysics and allied fields.

In-house holdings include an outstanding collection of textbooks, monographs and related publications; over 30,000 photographs and other images; over 1,500 oral histories with many of the outstanding figures in the fields that we cover; and archival records of AIP and its Member Societies along with other archival records and personal papers of a select number of scientists.

In our International Catalog of Sources (ICOS) we have over 10,000 collections from over 900 repositories worldwide.

Due to a library renovation project, many of our books are temporarily unavailable until the project is completed (estimated July 2024). Archives and Special Collections materials are still available for research use. Please see our catalog for the full availability of items or contact us at [email protected] with questions about the availability of specific materials. We apologize for the inconvenience.
