In 1912, the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women founded a settlement school in Gatlinburg, Tennessee as a service project for its 50th anniversary. Materials documenting the school’s history and its contemporary legacy, Arrowmont, are found within this collection.

A rare collection of photographs from the expeditions of Paul J. Adams, an avid hiker and cofounder of the Smoky Mountains Hiking Club, including depictions of one of the earliest camps built on Mount Le Conte.

The William Derris Collection is comprised of 334 Kodachrome slides and 14 film clips that document seasonal landscapes, flora, wildlife, and the mountain people in the Great Smoky Mountains from the mid-twentieth century.

Collection of panoramic images of the Great Smoky Mountains created by Elgin P. Kintner, M.D. These panoramas were originally created by taking several photographs and then arranging them in order. In this collection they are stitched together digitally.

Albert Gordon "Dutch" Roth, born September 20, 1890 in Knoxville, Tennessee, is recognized as one of the most prolific early photographers of the Great Smoky Mountains' Greenbrier and Mount Le Conte sections.

The Smoky Mountains Hiking Club Collection includes annual handbooks that share a list of scheduled hikes for each year as well as the club's officers and photographs that document some of the early adventures of the hiking club.
Thompson Brothers Photograph Collection
Brothers James E. (Jim) and Robin Thompson were professional photographers based in Knoxville, Tennessee, in the early twentieth century. This collection includes approximately 400 photographs held by four institutions that capture the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains.
William Cox Cochran Photographic Collection
William Cox Cochran captured these 89 images of East Tennessee between August 12th and 30th of 1886. The photographs are of East Tennessee people and landmarks, mostly located in what is now the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
