Hm, I don't know whether to add Doctor Who: Fear Itself by Nick Wallace. It's not ABOUT Mars, but parts of it concern the life of someone on a partially terraformed Mars.

How about The Martian Race by Gregory Benford? (my favorite book set on Mars from the near future SF sub-genre)

Steven - you want me to remove the ones that are very clearly not fitting the list parameters? I was thinking specifically about the two courtship guides.
Hey, I'm looking for a book title I read long ago. Pulpy thing. Girl is taking a night stroll on a beach and is high-jacked by aliens trying to grab some scientist. They say something like "sorry we screwed but you are not allowed back" for the sake secrecy and plan to put her in some isolation with books.
Everyone in their society is beautiful and everything is at their peak of health and strength and all that.
Guys have their hair short so they don't become self conscious when they get old and bald, women have 4 month pregnancies and then put the babies in incubators, children are raised communally by people into caring. Actually, there is something about testing people for their wants and likes and then putting them in those positions. And they have a king that is chosen by what everyone want in one.
The bad guys are from venus and look like bees.
It's driving me crazy that I remember a lot of silly details but not the title. Does anyone know it?

I think I've read half the books on this list :) I recommend http://www.amazon.com/Leaving-Earth-O...
Absolutely right; I will remove both of them. (The Case for Mars: The Plan to Settle the Red Planet and Why We Must and Mission to Mars: My Vision for Space Exploration)

Thanks! :)
Thanks! :)
Added Terra Formars. It's a manga series (turned anime) about Earth terraforming Mars with cockroaches, but when the Earthlings return years later to check on the progress, they discover rapid evolution by the cockroaches, and this development has deadly consequences.
