World Health Report 2000 - Health Systems : Improving Performance

With the aim of improving the performance of health systems around the world, this annual report for the year 2000 is devoted to an exploration of issues of concern.

According to overall goals of good health, responsiveness to the expectations of the population, and fairness of financial contribution, the report presents an index of national health systems' performance. Arguing that progress towards them depends on service provision, resource generation, financing and stewards, the report devotes a chapter to each of these functions, reaching conclusions and policy recommendations on each.
