Kent Ratajeski, Allen Glazner, UNC Chapel Hill (student), University of North Carolina, Department of Geological Sciences

This website provides photomicrographs of minerals and rocks in thin section. The images are subdivided into minerals, plutonic microtextures, volcanic microtextures, and metamorphic microtextures. Each photomicrograph is accompanied by sample information, a brief description, rock type and locality, plane polarized and cross polar views, and a link to other examples of the mineral or microtexture. This resource is part of the Teaching Petrology collection. http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/petrology03/index.html
