In 1978, Judith Hoffberg began publishing the art journal Umbrella. Over the next three decades, the journal would offer up reviews and news regarding artist books, mail art and photography tradebooks. The journal ceased print publication in 2005, but permission was granted to the Herron Art Library of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) to digitize the entire print run. Visitors to the collection can browse by issue, or they can also perform a keyword search across the entire collection. For art historians and those with an interest in tracking the development of different artistic traditions in late 20th century America, this is a tremendous resource.
