This list has been setup to facilitate discussion of the art and craft of Bonsai and related art forms. Bonsai is the Oriental Art (Craft?) of minituarizing trees and plants into forms that mimic nature. Everyone interested, whether novice or professional, is invited to subscribe.

The CP listserv hosts a roundtable discussion of all aspects of carnivorous plants - cultivation, ecology, protection, etc. The CP archive contains lists of plants available from both members and commercial sources. Home Composting Discussion ListCompost is an electronic discussion list designed to facilitate the successful adoption of composting at home. The public list will include discussion of facts and myths, equipment, techniques, diagnosis of problems, vermiculture (worm composting), beneficial uses, and the value of home composting in reducing the solid waste stream.

The American Daffodil Society is pleased to offer a new list service dedicated to the discussion of all topics related to daffodils and their culture. This service is provided by Mississippi College, Clinton, Mississippi
The purpose of Gardens & Gardening is to promote and exchange information about home gardening. Everyone is welcome to participate, especially the novice gardener. Topics will include vegetable gardens, herbs, flowers, ornamental gardening, container gardening, and so on. Since this is such a broad topic, we may, at a later date, divide the list into various groups, such as indoor and outdoor gardening. gardens' WWW page features Cyndi Johnson's list of over 700 gardening catalogs with annotations from the gardens list subscribers.NOTE: This mailing list generates a considerable volume of mail (100-200 messages a day).
Over 200 members of Gesneriphiles discuss African Violets and Gesneriads, and the list even includes its own African Violet Frequently Asked Questions list.

PNW-Natives is a new mailing list for the discussion of wildlife gardening with pacific northwest native plants.I'm defining Pacific Northwest more narrowly than some who include everything north of San Francisco and west of the Rockies, which is an extremely diverse set of separate ecologies. I'm restricting the list to the more coastal areas, from Cook Inlet, Alaska to Eugene, Oregon north to south, and from the ridge of the Casacde and Coast ranges to the pacific ocean east to west. This region is quite varied enough, but is unified by the climate produced by the interactions between the ocean and the mountains.
Topics of conversation might include: where to buy native plants; announcements of plant sales; which native plants attract butterflies or birds; how to recreate a particular ecological niche such as a bog or a corner of moist forest; recommendations of particularly good field guides or other books; how to propagate particular plants; seed/plant exchanges; where's a good in-city nature walk.
The list is dedicated to prairie restoration, management, and the flora found within. Topics such as ecology, ethnobotany, and wildlife needs are also welcome. The list is hosted by Mallorn Computing, Horticultural Software Solutions, http://www.mallorn.com/.

The Square Foot Gardening listserv is for people who are using or interested in the home vegetable gardening methods described by Mel Bartholomew in his book, "Square Foot Gardening". The method is a combination of traditional techniques, but thinking in terms of planting in squares rather than rows.The list is open to anyone interested, but it is not intended to be an all-purpose gardening discussion list, but rather more focussed. Some issues covered include building raised beds, vertical training of vine plants, crop rotation, and intensive (closely spaced) planting.
