Every child is unique. The way they are coping with the impacts of coronavirus is no different.
Lockdowns, school closures and physical distancing are all having a big impact on children.
UNICEF asked children from around the world to document their lives at home. To get a glimpse into their world and to inspire others. From Italy to Iraq to South Africa, these videos show how every child has a unique way of coping with the effects of coronavirus.
South Africa
“When coronavirus is over, we’ll be free again.”
Joakim, 5, helps his dad draw maps so he can go on treasure hunts with his little sister. He stays in touch with friends and teachers and attends capoeira classes online.
India
“I have lots of time to write in my journal.”
Saira, 6, keeps busy doing the things she likes — dancing, birdwatching, playing the harmonica and arts and crafts. Here she reveals the secret to good handwashing.
Yemen
“I hope corona never comes to us.”
Muna, 10, lives in a camp in Yemen after being displaced by violence in the country – the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. Despite the dire situation, she reminds us to be grateful for the things we can enjoy.
Democratic Republic of the Congo
“We don’t have internet at home, so now I study using my school books.”
Cornell, 12, lives with his parents, four sisters and brother in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. As school is closed, he spends his time planting and painting.
United States of America

Zoe, 16, has a good breakfast before starting her school day but also makes it a point to take physical-distanced walks with her friend and to get in her exercise.
Iraq

Beshara is bursting with positivity as she shares how she's helping slow the spread of COVID-19 in Erbil, Iraq.
Italy
“Even if we are far away, we can also be very close. You are not alone.”
Hannah, 19, is a refugee living in a reception centre in Italy. Even though she’s been separated from her friends, she is finding ways to stay happy and busy.
UNICEF is on the ground in more than 190 countries, partnering with governments, health workers and other front-line responders to keep children healthy, safe and learning, no matter who they are or where they live.
