This report presents the results of a 1996 National Science Foundation workshop that discussed the "use of information technology in higher education." In four special sessions, participants discussed Perspectives and Constituencies, Evaluation and Dissemination of Information Technology, Themes, and Directions and Recommendations for the future. The report provides a detailed introduction and rationale for the workshop, and the outcomes from each of the four special sessions. In addition, follow-up information and further recommendations are included.
