In late January, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) released this new publication. Published January 26th 2001, the Digest of Education Statistics, 2000 "provides a compilation of statistical information covering the broad field of education from prekindergarten through graduate school." Data in the digest cover "the number of schools and colleges; teachers; enrollments; graduates; educational attainment; finances; federal funds for education; employment and income of graduates; libraries; technology; and international comparisons." (The Digest of Education Statistics, 1999 was featured in the April 4th, 2000 Scout Report for the Social Sciences.)
