Named after former U.S. Secretary of Transportation John A. Volpe, the Volpe National Transportation Center was founded in 1970. The Center is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and its mission is "to provide analytical, scientific, and engineering support to the U.S. Department of Transportation."
