In 1857 Andrew D. Lytle arrived in Baton Rouge from Cincinnati with a gleam in his eye and a camera under his arm. Over the next half century, he managed to photograph hundreds of people and places around this fair town, including scenes of naval vessels, Federal encampments, student activities, and much more. This digital collection brings together 800 of his images, courtesy of the Louisiana State University Digital Collections group.
