NASA: Magnetospheric Mission (MMS)

NASA's Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission is a fascinating attempt to better understand magnetic reconnection, "the mix of positively and negatively charged particles that make up the stars, fill space, and account for an estimated 99% of the observable universe." In 2015, NASA plans to launch four identical spacecraft that will orbit Earth and send back data from the dynamic magnetic system surrounding the planet. This site does a wonderful job of brining the mission to life. From the home page, readers can Learn More about the Spacecraft and Instruments or the Science behind the mission. Additionally, there are numerous Images, Videos, and Media Resources that will immerse readers in NASA's groundbreaking and fascinating exploration to understand the nature of the universe.
