The place

Joseph Squier, an artist and associate professor of electronic media at University of Illinois, presents the place, an "evolving repository of art work created specifically for distribution on the Web." Squier's art work employs texts, images, and JavaScript to convey his message. Currently, some highlights are urban diary, a scrapbook documenting the experiences of "an anonymous urban citizen," including images of items found on New York sidewalks, and a piece entitled life with father, that is certainly the most moving expressive work I have ever seen on the Web. Users can engage in conversation with the interactive piece entitled io or read Squier's scholarly writings on the impact of digital art in the soapbox section. Please note Squier warns that features of the site may change without notice.
