This Website offers a substantial annotated listing of "resources for methods in evaluation and social research." The focus is on "how-to" do evaluation research and the methods used: surveys, focus groups, sampling, interviews, and other methods. Most of these links are to resources that can be read over the Web. A few, like the GAO (General Accounting Office) books, are for resources that can be sent away for, in this case, books that are free for US residents. The materials, which are clearly organized by the table of contents, have been compiled privately by Gene Shackman, a research scientist in the Analysis and Evaluation Unit at the New York State Department of Health.
