Posted earlier this month, this report from the UN-Emergencies Unit for Ethiopia focuses on the current and possible future consequences of recent drought-like conditions in the Afar region in Northeastern Ethiopia. The report examines the current conditions, exacerbated by disease and displacement of individuals as a result of the war with neighboring Eritrea, and makes some recommendations for UN action. Also included here are "annexes" that provide a bibliography of related reports and studies as well as contact information for non-governmental organizations involved in the region.
