The Beecher Tradition, based on an exhibit at the William and Anita Newman Library, explores the history of the well-known New England Family. Photos and excerpts from family letters, along with narrative text, make up the bulk of this online exhibition. Users navigate the site by progressing through the family history via a series of famous Beechers, starting with Patriarch Lyman Beecher, born in 1775 in New Haven, Connecticut. The site profiles five children of Lyman and his two wives along with one of his great-granddaughters. Among those profiled is the best known of the Beecher daughters, Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of Uncle Tom's Cabin, or Life among the Lowly. A list of Beecher related links, a bibliography, and recommended reading list round out the site nicely.
