Designed expressly for medical professionals, this peer-reviewed database will offer users free and frequently updated information on antibiotics and their proper use. This is the first in a planned series of digital medical specialty handbooks from Johns Hopkins and is available both on the Web and on PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants). At present, the guide contains information on over 160 drugs and more than 140 diseases treated by both specialists and primary care physicians. After free registration, users may search the database by diagnosis, pathogen, antibiotic type, or by keyword. Additional features at the site include recent news and feature articles. Johns Hopkins is to be congratulated for this excellent new initiative.
