Recently, the US Census Bureau posted new data from the 2000 census and from the 1996 panel of the Survey of Income and Program Participation. On April 2, the Bureau announced that the 2000 Census showed the largest increase ever in the US population over a ten-year period, 32.7 million. "The previous record increase between decennial censuses, the 28.0 million jump between 1950 and 1960, occurred during the post-World War II 'baby boom.'"
