In March 2001 the Museum of Modern Art launched What is a Print? -- a Website devoted to the craft and art of woodcuts, etchings, lithographs, and screenprints. An animated graphics program takes the visitor through the printing process for each form and is accompanied by a small but selective gallery (10-12 images) of examples drawn from the collection. Accompanying text describes the history of each form and provides background on each print offered in the galleries. A glossary of terms as well as a brief biography of recommended readings is also posted.
