On June 4, 2002, Laura Bush and Dr. Robert Martin, Director of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), hosted the White House Conference on School Libraries, and were joined by leaders and experts in the fields of education, library, and government from all across the country. Thanks to the IMLS, the entire transcript from this conference is available on their Web site. Interested Internet users may read opening remarks by both First Lady Bush and Dr. Martin, as well as other speeches made by the panelists (including the keynote address). In addition, the IMLS has included, among other things, biographies of all the speakers, and a list of administrative resources provided by Dr. Gary Hartzell, Professor of Educational Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
