No longer a "hush-hush" topic, menopause has become highly publicized in recent years and is now becoming a more openly discussed subject among women all across this country. In response to this publicity, the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) has created its own Web site to further the dialogue and discourse of menopause among and between women. NAMS is a leading scientific nonprofit organization devoted to promoting women's health during midlife and beyond through an understanding of menopause. Its site contains information on perimenopause, early menopause, menopause symptoms, long-term health effects of estrogen loss, and a wide variety of therapies to enhance health. NAMS has a membership of approximately 2,000 clinical and basic science experts from the fields of medicine, nursing, sociology, psychology, nutrition, anthropology, epidemiology, and education, while priding itself on providing accurate and unbiased information. For women and men wanting to learn up-to-date information concerning menopause, this is definitely a site to explore.
