Beta Versions of CompuServe's Internet Office Web Server Now Available
SEATTLE, Wash. - August 7, 1995 -- Corporations no longer need to=20
choose between security standards for commercial transactions over the=20
Internet. CompuServe Incorporated=92s Internet Division in Seattle=20
announced today the release of Internet Office Web Server, the first=20
secure Web server to provide support for both Secure-Hypertext=20
Transfer Protocol (S-HTTP) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).
=93Open solutions are crucial for corporations. Internet Office Web=20
Server follows this model by providing corporations with a server that=20
supports the two leading security standards,=20
S-HTTP and SSL,=94 said Richard Ting, director of product management for=20

Internet Office Web Server Includes A Full Breadth Of Functionality
Internet Office Web Server offers a full breadth of functionality such=20
as S-HTTP and SSL security features, top-of-the-line HTML authoring=20
tools such as HoTMetal Pro from Softquad and fast, reliable data=20
search engines from Architext.
In addition, it offers an SQL database, connects to MiniSQL and Sybase=20
database and includes full HTTP Web server functionality for=20
delivering multimedia information that incorporates text.
Internet Office Web Server Features
Many important commercial features will be included with the Internet=20
Office Web Server. Following is a list of a few highlights:
=B7 Secure HTTP and SSL allows the secure encryption and authentication=20
of vital data between client and server;
=B7 SQL Query Features enables corporations to build dynamic Web pages=20
through the server and includes the ability to update HTML pages in=20
real time. In addition, Sybase SQL and MiniSQL libraries allow=20
commercial customers control of who has access to specific documents;
=B7 Proxy Server Support includes firewall support and caching for high=20
performance;
=B7 Support for CGI Scripts allows for forms processing and server=20
extensibility;
=B7 Virtual Server enables companies to host multiple home pages so that=20
each customer gets a unique Internet URL address.
Pricing and Availability
Internet Office Web Server will be available for SunOS 4.1.3, Solaris=20
2.X, HP-UX 9&10 and BSDI operating systems at the end of 3Q95. An NT=20
version will follow at the beginning of 4Q95. Pricing for Internet=20
Office Web Server will be $599 and will include a free copy of=20
CompuServe=92s secure client software, Internet Office. The non-secure=20
edition of Internet Office Web Server is now available for free at=20
