In this 11-page exercise, from the Advanced Technology Environmental and Energy Center, students complete a critical thinking activity on social injustice, human health risks, and waste recycling. Students take on the role of a mayor, a presenter from a company that engineers and installs landfill gas-to-energy technology, and community representatives to study the "pro's and con's of commonly used waste management technologies and practices." Talking points are included for seven different roles in this activity along with instructions for both teacher and student preparation.
