OAI-PMH Server

The OAI-PMH Server plugin provides support for offering metadata from resource records up to others via version 2.0 of the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH).

OAI-PMH is used by NSDL, OAIster, and others within the digital library community to aggregate information about online resources and expand the impact of digital collections.  It is also used by Google and others who are crawling the web to gather higher-quality information about online resources.

In addition to transferring resource record metadata, the OAI-PMH Server plugin allows searching your collection via the OAI-SQ protocol extension, and support selective harvesting of collection segments by allowing individual metadata fields to be used to select specific subsets of a collection.

The OAI-PMH Server plugin auto-detects OAI-PMH requests, so the base URL you supply to anyone who wants to harvest records from your collection is the same as the main URL for your site.
