The phpBB Login Synchronization plugin allows a phpBB forum to use CWIS user accounts, such that logging into either site will automatically log a user in to both. A companion phpBB plugin must be installed and enabled on the phpBB site for synchronization to function. A CWIS-like phpBB theme is also provided and recommended. Detailed usage instructions are in 'plugins/phpBBSync/README'.

The URL Checker plugin periodically validates the values of URL fields to find those that are bad or are likely to be bad, which helps keep a resource collection up-to-date and useful. The plugin also provides a streamlined interface to view the bad URLs it finds, allowing collection administrators to quickly sort the results, edit the resource associated with a bad URL, hide the resource associated with a bad URL from the public, recheck bad URLs, or even search for a bad URL in Google to find an alternative.

The Tags plugin provides folksonomy-style tagging of resources with a user-driven vocabulary, similar to sites like Flickr and Twitter. Allowing users to tag resources can encourage more user participation, increase the value and usefulness of the site, and give collection administrators insight into how the resource collection is used.

The Rules plugin allows the specification of rules based on changes to resource metadata, that will trigger email to be sent to specified users or other actions to be taken.  It is intended to be used in conjunction with the Mailer plugin to define email templates.

The Pages plugin allows the creation and editing of web pages with free-form static HTML content, using a WYSIWYG (interactive GUI) interface.  It can be used to allow non-technical development or administrative staff to add or maintain additional pages on a CWIS site.
